Replacing the phone as your alarm

The phone stays in the bedroom for one reason: it is the alarm. Move that one job to a clock and the doomscrolling loses its excuse.

The flagship small clock is the one to start with: 2-inch digits, a dimmer that goes fully dark, a USB port so the phone can charge across the room instead of under the pillow. Set the alarm once, it survives outages on a pair of AAA batteries.

If you fall asleep to sound, the clock radios add FM with a sleep timer that turns itself off, and the sound-machine models replace the white-noise app too.
